à-hydroxy-2,4-difluorophenylacetic acid - Introduction
2,4-difluoromandelic acid (2,4-Difluorobenzoic acid), chemical formula C7H4F2O2, is an organic compound. The following is a description of the properties, uses, preparation methods and safety information of 2,4-difluoromandelic acid:
Nature:
-Appearance: 2,4-Difluoromandelic acid is a colorless crystalline solid.
-Solubility: It can be dissolved in organic solvents such as ethanol, chloroform and dichloromethane, but it is difficult to dissolve in water.
-Melting point: Its melting point is 170-173 degrees Celsius.
Use:
- 2,4-Difluoromandelic acid is widely used as an organic synthesis intermediate in organic synthesis reactions, such as pesticide synthesis, drug synthesis and polymer material synthesis.
Preparation Method:
- 2,4-difluoromandelic acid can be prepared by the fluorination reaction of hydroquinone. First, difluorophenol is obtained by fluorination reaction of difluorophenol with bromine gas, and then, difluorophenol is further fluorinated with hydrofluoric acid to obtain 2,4-difluoromandelic acid.
Safety Information:
- 2,4-Difluoromandelic acid is generally considered non-toxic to humans under normal conditions of use. However, it may have an irritating effect on the eyes, skin and respiratory tract. Therefore, when operating, wear appropriate protective equipment such as gloves, goggles and protective clothing to avoid contact. In addition, during storage and handling, care should be taken to avoid contact with strong oxidants and strong acids to avoid unsafe chemical reactions.
